A place to pull back from ordinary worldly activities, slow down, recharge, and refocus.
Built to provide a place for people to spend time in quiet and seclusion. The cabin is situated near the Zen Center, but by itself. Unlike many retreat cabins, it has electricity, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a bathroom. The size is large enough for walking meditation and exercise. The cabin is insulated, heated, and air conditioned.
The cabin is only 432 sq ft, but contains everything needed for a solo retreat.

Over the past 15 years many people have come to the Center for personal retreats.
It is the perfect place to go to retreat from distractions of a busy life and allow yourself to be with yourself. We don't give ourselves enough time away from distractions to just have quiet and peace of mind. I am so delighted that the Solo Retreat Cabin is being built to accommodate people going into a deeper place in themselves.

I have done group retreats many times before, but I was hoping to do a personal retreat that fit in with the time I had off. I ended up staying at the Zen Center for 5 days and it was a great experience. The facilities provide an ideal environment for deep meditation practice . . . The energy is one of stillness, depth and support.

I spent a weekend at the Vermont Zen Center for a personal retreat a few winters ago and really enjoyed it. I loved having time for myself to read, do yoga, meditate, and walk outdoors. Having the beautiful container of the Zen Center within which to spend this time worked well, and I love the idea of a solo cabin for even more solitude and rest.
